Green Clean

Green Initiative:

Understanding that environmental consciousness, customer service, value, social media, and digital interfacing are very important to the “X” and millennial generations, iShine implemented several key features into the model. We are one of the only car washes in the United States that qualify for unlimited Federal SBA lending based on our high level green initiatives.

Here is a list of some our specific green initiatives implemented on all new units:

  • Tunnels are outfitted with a complete water reclaim system. Water reclaim has two major benefits to the business. First, with a water reclamation rate of approximately 80%, this equates to savings of about 70% on both water usage and sewer charges. This is a significant utility cost savings. System payback is two to three years depending on volume. The second benefit is marketing “green” for protecting the environment. Because iShine can reclaim and re-use water, their car wash is actually far better for the environment then even driveway car washing.
  • Rain water from the building is captured and funneled into the water reclaim system. With a normal amount of rainfall, consumption of new domestic water is reduced to only 5%-10%
  • Solar panels are installed on all sites to produce nearly 15% of the energy usage for the entire site
  • Recaptured water not used in our facility to service cars is diverted and used in our irrigation system
  • The facility is designed to run on 480V versus 208V mains power. This reduces energy costs by allowing less current to be used for the same power requirements. Also, due to lower currents, smaller gauge wiring is utilized in the overall wiring of the facility, saving material and generating less waste
  • LED fixtures are used in most of the high energy consuming areas (Lot lights, exterior lighting, signage, etc.). This lowers our operating cost and saves on costly replacements of incandescent and mercury vapor bulbs
  • Skylights and glass/glazing are used extensively to promote natural light usage versus solely relying on electrical lighting in the tunnels. This cuts down on the electrical needs of the facility while enhancing the customer’s experience
  • All windows and glass surfaces are coated to cut down on radiant heat flow. This reduces the heat loss while allowing the space to be heated by solar energy
  • Motion sensors are used on all lights in bathrooms and storage areas to minimize the lighting usage
  • Majority of building components are made from post-consumer recycled material. All steel on site is made from a minimum of 80% recycled material. This includes the structural steel, re-bar, studs, shade structures and conveyor equipment within the tunnels
  • All ceiling tiles used are made from recycled materials
  • Fresh air make-up units are installed in the detail bay area to ensure that our customers and employees are interacting and working in a fresh environment
  • All HVAC filters within the building are re-usable and not disposable
  • All site vacuums are timed to ensure that they are not accidently left running
  • All facility lot lights are required to be on timers
  • Garbage cans for entire facility are produced using recycled materials
  • When applicable, iShine works with other local developers to haul in or truck out the spoils from local sites to ensure that the materials are not being shipped out to a disposal or holding facility
  • SFI recycles the scrap that is generated at the construction site. Including, concrete, asphalt, rock, brick/masonry, tile/porcelain and all metal
  • Biodegradable and Photodegradable soaps are used through-out the car wash and detailing process at all locations
  • All towels used on site are washable and re-usable
